Not a fan of the face-to-face consult? Feel super uncomfy having a deep chat while you’re sitting still? Some of us (guilty!) feel way more at ease talking on the phone while strolling around the block or pacing through the park… I’m not here to judge!

Science shows many people find sitting still while talking on the phone to be a rare form of torture - especially you younger people! And who am I to argue with science!?   • Unfortunately Medicare doesn’t cover consultations with nutritionists at this time. However, some private health insurers may offer rebates, depending on your level of cover.

  • Initial consultations are 75 minutes, giving us time to cover your existing health and nutrition habits (or lack thereof!), any concerns you have, and your goals. You’ll complete a pre-appointment questionnaire before your session so we don’t waste any time - we’ll get right into the business side of things, giving you maximum bang for your buck!

    Follow-up consultations are 50 minutes. During this time we’ll revisit your unique goals, addressing each one with tailored, personalised and effective strategies and tools - all of which require minimal effort, for maximum impact.

    Follow-up consults are the action sessions. You’ll walk away each time with new practical, powerful tools to add to your health toolkit for life.

    Each session includes any follow-up documentation or prescriptions if required. You’ll receive a comprehensive, personalised plan after each session, guiding you through the strategies and tools we introduced, prescribing any products you may need, and noting down next steps towards achieving your health goals. There’s a lot that goes on in the background before and after each face-to-face consult, trust me!

  • I’m impatient, so I say book NOW! Seriously though, nothing will ever offer the same value and personalised guidance as a 1:1 consult. Yes, the programs will be fabulous and inspiring and helpful, but if you want targeted, effective and simple solutions tailored specifically to your individual goals, concerns and circumstances, there’s no beating an individual session. And as if you don’t want to work with me one-to-one!

  • Good question - I created empathic nutrition because I truly believe my approach to health and nutrition is different to anything else that exists.

    I have a “less is more” approach to health and nutrition, meaning I’ll show you how to elevate your health but I’ll only implement tools and strategies that demand less of your time, effort, energy, money and brain space.

    I’ll streamline your health practices, so you know exactly what you have to do to support your wellbeing, but also what you don’t have to do - so you can ditch all the unnecessary, expensive, rigid regimes and practices you’ve been told you need in the past.

  • If you don’t need supplements or vitamins, you best believe I won’t prescribe them. I’m not here to make you buy seventy seven supplements you don’t need. That’s essentially selling you expensive pee.

    I very much have a “food first” approach. Most of us can get all the nutrients we need from our diets alone. But when we delve deep into your health tests, results and history, if anything indicates you aren’t getting enough of certain nutrients from your diet, I’ll consider whether you need a supplement to help fill any gaps.

    At the end of the day, I’ll never tell you to take or buy anything you don’t genuinely need. So if you don’t need supplements, then no I won’t recommend them. But if you do, I am primarily here to improve your health - so of course I’ll prescribe anything you actually need - if it will truly make a positive difference to your wellbeing.

  • Ahhh the age-old question, and a good one to understand. It takes a little explaining, so I break it down in an entry on the journal for you. But first, it’s important to note that not all nutritionists are equally qualified. Make sure you’re working with someone who has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Nutrition Science, Dietetics or similar at a reputable institution (pick meee - I have a Bachelor of Nutrition Science and Dietetics from the University of Sydney!) and not just some dodgy online course than took 2 hours, or a “degree” from some alternative health college that values “woo woo” over what works.

    It’s true, I’m not the best at sugarcoating things… I’m more of a “say it how it is” gal.

  • No referral necessary! Book away, friend, it couldn’t be easier!

  • There’s no need to do tonnes of preparation or planning before your first session.

    After you’ve booked an initial consultation, you’ll receive an email from me including a pre-appointment questionnaire. Fill it out with as much or as little detail as you like - just remember, the more info you give me in advance, the less background I’ll have to ask you for during our first meeting, meaning we can dive right into the fun stuff!

    Other than the questionnaire, there is zero prep required from you. Leave all the heavy lifting to me!

    If you do have any recent (within the last 6 months) blood test results, health reports, or anything you think is relevant to your health concerns or goals, I’d love for you to shoot these over to me via email along with your questionnaire before we meet. The more you share with me in advance, the more you’ll get out of your first session. But as with everything in my clinic, it’s entirely up to you - I’ll meet you wherever you’re at!

    In your first session, we’ll establish your specific, individualised health and nutrition goals, and a plan of attack for how we can make them happen! Other than that, you can expect empathy and warmth, some serious support and science-based suggestions, plenty of knowledge and information, all delivered by a real person who’s been where you are - and knows exactly how to help you!

  • At this stage, all consults are held over Zoom - which means you can talk all things nutrition and health with me from the comfort of your own couch! I’ve found most of my patients prefer this - it cuts out travel time, and helps some people feel more comfortable and relaxed - especially in the first few sessions.

    And I can assure you, it doesn’t take away anything from the personal connection we’ll build. You’ll get the same approachable, friendly, fun (but serious when it counts, don’t you worry!) version of me you’d get IRL, I promise!

  • Of course! Life happens, I get it. Just make sure you adhere to the cancellation policy to prevent being charged any no-show or cancellation fees:

    • If you can no longer attend your appointment, please provide at least 48 hours notice so other patients can claim your time slot. Before this cancellation window, you’re free to reschedule your appointment to any other time that suits you - no questions asked!

    • Cancellations within this 48 hour period are difficult to fill. To ensure as many patients as possible can book in and receive the support they need, cancellation fees may apply.

    • If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you may be charged up to 100% of the full fee.

  • When you book in for your initial consultation (or follow-up), you’ll need to purchase a session or package to allow you to lock in your chosen time slot. This means after your consult, you won’t have to pay a thing - you’ll have taken care of it in advance. What a gift to Future You!

    If you do need to cancel your appointment, you’ll have a session credited to you (unless you’re within the 48 hour cancellation window) so you can to rebook for a time that suits you in the future.

  • Ahh, but that’s where you’re wrong friend! Trying to control your food and eating is actually one of the biggest drivers of binge eating.

    Many of my patients have tried desperately to limit their food intake, depriving themselves of foods they love, crave or feel out of control around.

    But, just like when you pull an elastic band too hard and it flings back in the opposite direction, this almost always has a rebound effect. People end up bingeing on their “forbidden” foods, before beginning the cycle all over again.

    When you work with me, we’ll unpack and unlearn the food rules and fears keeping you stuck in this pattern, so you can enjoy all foods in your balanced diet (unless you have allergies, obviously). Even if a food doesn’t fuel your body, if it fuels your soul then it absolutely deserves a place on your plate!

  • Again, that’s where you’re wrong… Dieting gives you the illusion you’re in control around food. But it’s a band-aid solution.

    All diets fail because they’re so unsustainable, and research shows people tend to become heavier after dieting than they were before.

    Dieting is not the way to achieve your health goals. It’s miserable, it’s restrictive, and it’s unhealthy.

    With me, you’ll learn how to eat in a way that supports your health. You’ll learn how to make considered eating choices, and you’ll feel in-control around food again.

  • This is something I hear almost all of my patients say at one point. It’s also a myth.

    It shows that, at your core, you believe your happiness, worth and value are contingent upon your body being a certain shape, size or aesthetic.

    But in reality? Let’s say you do lose those last few kilos you think will allow you to “be happy”. Now what? Are you suddenly obsessed with yourself, thrilled whenever you look in a mirror?
    No. You’ll simply move the goalpost further away, deciding you need to lose more weight because you still don’t feel good enough.

    This is how we’ve been conditioned to feel. It’s not your fault. You grew up in a world that told you you’re not inherently good enough - and only by controlling or shaping our body will you be able to find peace and self-worth.

    But the truth is this: self-worth and acceptance stem from many places - all of which have nothing to do with appearance. They come from your connections with the people you love, your ability to live a life in alignment with your values, the way you make people feel and how you interact with the world around you.

  • This hurts me to hear, because food is such a source of joy if you allow it to be! But you’re not alone in feeling this way.

    For many people, eating foods that are “less nutrient-dense” may offer short-term pleasure, but this is quickly followed by guilt and shame. You may feel you should have more discipline, self-control and willpower, and be able to resist these less nutritious foods.   • This breaks my heart. But I’ve felt like this too - hell, it kept me stuck in a savage eating disorder for over 10 years. I avoided seeking support because I didn’t look sick, and my behaviours weren’t as overtly “dangerous” as what I believed real eating disorder behaviours were.

Only when I finally recognised things were getting worse over time, and I couldn’t see a way out, did I finally seek support.     But that’s where I come in… My approach to nutrition makes it as unrestrictive and freeing as possible. With my approach, all foods are allowed - even encouraged - in your regular diet! Because even if a food doesn’t necessarily fuel your body, if it brings you joy and contentment then it fuels your soul - and that’s equally important in my eyes.

  • Honeyyyy, I’ve been there. But this isn’t where your story ends - you deserve to feel appreciation, respect and gratitude towards your body. I’m not saying you have to love your body all the time - that’s super unrealistic, I agree. But I will help you learn to recognise the functional importance of your body, and to start treating it with respect and care.   • Remember when I said my general motto for health is less is more? This applies with exercise, as well as nutrition! I’m not saying you should never lift a weight or walk around the block again, that would be absurd. But I am saying that more isn’t always more…

    If you’re overexercising, you’re likely getting in your own way of achieving your health goals. You’re putting so much stress on your body, it can no longer be sure of when it will next be fed the fuel and energy it needs to support all the intense, punishing movement you’re putting it through. In panic and fear, your body begins to hold onto fat “in case of an emergency” - this way, if your body does stop receiving food, at least the stored fat can keep you alive for a little longer. Your body is smart, it’s protecting you and keeping you alive. And you’re treating it horribly in return.

    With exercise, you want to aim for a healthy medium. Move your body in ways that feel energising, empowering and enjoyable.

    You want to feel strong, and incorporate different types of exercise into your routine. But you don’t want to overdo it.

    Part of the puzzle is redefining your relationship with exercise - asking why you move your body, and using this to create a more balanced, healthy workout routine which supports (instead of compromises) your health goals. I can absolutely help you get there! Prepare to start enjoying exercise again, and approaching movement from a place of empowerment, choice and strength.
